The exhibition catalogue listed the works for sale and those in the collections of the artist, family and friends. Some works were listed as being in the possession of alter egos, fictional people, characters from The Goons and the family dog.

The exhibition opening was attended by 80-100 people including some who hadn't seen each other for many years. Poet Bill Beard climbed on to a table and gave an impromtu performance about the artist, and daughter Amara danced accompanied by a Scottish piper.

After many years without any public showing, a major retrospective exhibition of Robert Finlayson's work was held at the independent TAP Gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney in July 1994. Almost 150 works were exhibited, covering the years 1962 to 1994. The title of the exhibition came from a poem of the same name by Thom Gunn. Bob also did a painting with this title (top right), which was included in the show.
